St Nicholas Night Association
This is our 16th annual St. Nicholas Night in Alcester and amongst the usual attractions we have an extended performance by the Alcester Victoria Silver Band, and sessions by local school groups, who will perform on the church green. Our local favourites the White Hart Morris Men and very special guests Aelfgythe Border Morris will perform on the High Street.
Additional demands, such as insurance costs & road enclosure enforcement, have made the financing of the event more challenging in recent years, so we are especially grateful to Alcester & Forest of Arden Food Festivals and The Three Tuns who are yet again our headline sponsors. We must also acknowledge the annual financial support received from Alcester Court Leet, The Turk's Head, AGS Ltd and Minerva Mill, whose generous donations make this event possible. We are grateful for all the goodwill shown to this event that helps reduce costs, from our public services (Alcester Town Council and Warwickshire Police), and also local landowners. This year, Alcester Town Football Club and Ragley Estates have offered use of their land for the fireworks display, making it a safer location for all and reducing the costs greatly. Thank-you all.
We would like to pass on our sincere gratitude to everybody that continues to support the event, including marshals & participators of the parade, stall holders & other entertainers. This year we must say a special thanks to Andrew Mitchell, who recently stood down as Chairman of St Nicholas Night Association following 13 years involvement. This much-loved annual event has become a town treasure and Andy has been instrumental in this success. We all owe him huge thanks for his diligence, commitment and hard work. Thank you indeed Andy!
Don’t forget the fantastic fireworks display on Stratford Road at 8.30 p.m. Provided by Ultimate Fireworks of Salford Priors near Evesham, they have generously supported the event since 2011 and offer professional displays, individually designed for all occasions. St. Nick’s Night would not be the same without them!
A very big thank you to everyone who helps our small, independent committee of SNNA volunteers that make the event happen. The hard work may go unnoticed, but it is highly appreciated by all Townsfolk and visitors alike.
We would like to wish both residents and visitors a very warm welcome and a very enjoyable St. Nicholas Night.
