A Message from the Rector
St Nicholas Night remembers the 4th Century Bishop after whom the parish church in Alcester is named. Children from St Nicholas School will again play the parts of Boy Bishop and attendants and together with local organizations, it’s an opportunity to celebrate community life in Alcester. Don’t miss the parade at 7 pm, it promises to be a great spectacle again, including classic vehicles, town groups and of course, the Boy Bishop.
In recent years, I have spoken of the external stonework repair of the church which began in 2017, and it is with great pride we can report it is complete and looks magnificent! Thank-you for all your support. We are now turning our attention to the internal decoration of the church, so we would be delighted to receive your ongoing support.
During St Nicholas Night, the church will be open for a moment of stillness or to light a candle and to pray, and for the service of Night Prayer (Compline) at 9.00 p.m. that completes the evening. We know that for many, St Nicholas Night represents the start of Christmas celebrations; we would love you to join us and celebrate Christmas with us at St Nicholas church. You can find details of services on our webpage www.alcesterminster.org
Thank you St. Nicholas Night Association and to all the community groups who contribute to the success of this event.
